The Lives of Perfectionist in an Obscure Sport

Tennis is an obscure sport. You could be a top 5 tennis player in the world an go virtually unnoticed (at least in the United States). How many people have heard of Novak Djokovic? He is two rankings ahead of Andy Roddick at number 3 in the world and has won 3 million dollars along with 4 tournaments just this year. Roger Federer who is number 1 has been number one for more consecutive weeks than any other player male or female. Many if not most tennis fans consider him the best ever, if not the greatest athlete ever. However, because he is not American he doesn't get much media attention or publicity in this country. His dominance rivals Tiger Wood's or I've been told by sports commentators. What motivates someone to try to be number 1? A lot of players thrive on attention. I don't know if Bjorn Borg thrived on attention or not but when he lost his number 1 ranking and couldn't win his favorite majors he just quit. At that time he was only 26. Andre Agassi won his last major at 32 and made it to a final of one at 35 and he isn't the only one to win majors in his 30's. Pete Sampras won his last at 31.
